Texas Vintage Motorcycle Fandango

The "Best Little Vintage Bike Event in Texas".  Texas Fandango is a vintage swap meet, vintage bike show, and vintage races all rolled into one fun-packed weekend, April 5-7, 2019.  Fandango is located in the beautiful Texas hill country at the Gilliespie County Fairground in historic Fredericksburg.  We will have something for everyone who is a vintage motorcycle enthusiast. See our Texas Vintage Motorcycle Fandango FaceBook page under Announcements for race classes and schedule or see below.

FANDANGO SCHEDULE

4/4 Thursday – 12pm to 8pm - Vendor setup

4/5 Friday - 8am to 10am – Vendor setup

       Friday - 8am to 5pm - Swap Meet, Bike Show

4/6 Saturday - 8am to 5pm – Swap Meet, Bike Show

       Saturday - 10am to 8pm – Vintage Races (Flat Track, Dirt Drags, Mini Bikes)

4/7 Sunday - 8am to 2pm – Swap Meet, Bike Show

 

The Swap Meet and Bike Show are FREEVintage Races $20 (Kids 12 & under are FREE)

 

VINTAGE RACERS
Welcome to the 1st Annual Vintage Motorcycles Races at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds in
Fredericksburg, Texas.  Although this is a new event we intend to give y'all a full day of racing and fun. 
The flat track in the main event, but we also will incorporate Dirt Drags and an interior Mini Bike track
for nonstop entertainment for the public and for racers. 


The Track
The Flat Track race will be on a 5/8 mile track.  We will race on the clay base.
The Dirt Drags will be on the straightaway of the 5/8 mile track in front of the grandstands. 
The Mini Bike track will be in the interior of the 5/8 mile track in front of the grandstands.


Place and Time
Race date is Saturday, April 6, 2019
Rain date is Sunday, April 7, 2019
Sign in will begin at 7:00 am in the infield
Sign in closes at 9:00 am
Riders meeting at 9:30 am
Practice at 10:00 am
Heats will begin at 12:30 pm
Opening ceremonies will be at 4:00 pm

Flat Track Classes and Rules
All riders, if you need to change bikes for whatever reason, that will be allowed as long as it's legal in that class.  However, you
must change your number plates to the number you entered with.
BOARD TRACK (CLASS A) - TEENS THRU 1928
* No brakes
* Rolling start
* No gearbox or clutch (if running, transmission must be locked in one gear).
* These motorcycles were originally races with clincher rims and tires, and late twenties drop
center rims and tires.  While safety is our major concern, please try to keep your tires and rims
styled to the period.
HANDSHIFT - 1933 THRU 1951
* Hand shift and foot clutch
* No brakes and rigid frame
250/360 CC
* Rear brake required
* Engines produced before 1977 (singles or twins)
* 2-stroke or 4-stroke engines
BRAKELESS 250 - 1952 THRU 1968
* 250cc machines
* No brakes, no aftermarket swing arm frames
* Engines produced 1968 and earlier (examples:  Triumph Cub, BSA c-15, Honda Hawk, Yamaha
Ascot, Bultaco Metisse).
* Any rigid or factory swingarm frames may be used.
* 2 cycles must use effective silencers.
BRAKELESS 500/750
* No brakes and rigid frame.
* Foot shift and hand clutch.
* 750cc side valve, 500cc overhead valve and 2-stroke.
* Engines produced 1968 and earlier.
* Rigid or factory swingarm frame
70'S/80'S SINGLES (1977 THRU 1988)
* Rear brake required
* All Honda Ascots are legal
* Must have a twin shock frame
* Air-cooled engine
VINTAGE AM TWINS - (1969 thru 1976)
* Rear brake required
* Air cooled engine
VINTAGE SINGLES (CASH CLASS)
* 1989 and earlier
* Single or twin shock frame allowed
VINTAGE PRO TWINS (CASH CLASS)
* Twin shocks, RS 750 - XR 750
* 43 mm forks are legal
* No larger than wm6 rear wheel
MODERN OPEN (CASH CLASS)
* Any bike
* Brakes required
* No knobby tires

Riders Required Equipment
* DOT helmet in good condition
* Must wear full set of leathers
* Eye protection (goggles or helmet w/ face shield
* Leather full-finger gloves or MX gloves
* Leather boots over the ankle
ANYONE NOT WEARING THE LISTED REQUIRED GEAR WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RACE
Suggested additional equipment

Dirt Drags Classes and Rules
CHOPPER - 1984 or older, rigid frame, kickstart only
STOCK - US manufactured 1936-1984 OHV
STOCK - All imports, pre 1984
STOCK - US manufactured, flathead, 1930-1973
PRE 1930 - Any motorcycle
MINI BIKE - 10" wheels or less, Pull start, No gearbox

* Gloves
* Long Pants & Long Sleeves
* Eye Protection
* Handlebar Mounted Kill Switch
* Ankle high or higher Boots

ANYONE NOT WEARING THE LISTED REQUIRED GEAR WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RACE

Mini Bike Classes and Rules
All classes must have:
* Pull Start
* No Gearbox
* Rims no bigger than 10"
STOCK CLASS
* Functioning governor
* Filter, jet, header change are allowed
* No internal mods
OUTLAW CLASS
* Anything goes!
WOMENS CLASS
* Anything goes!
* Women only
OLD SCHOOL
* 6" wheels only
* No suspension
* Functioning governor
* Filter, jet, header change are allowed
* No internal mods
